Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong Inspects the Friendship Port in Mauritania

On March 11, a delegation led by Chen Xiaodong- Assistant Foreign Minister visited the Friendship Port in Mauritania undertaken by CRBC in the company of Zhang Jianguo- Chinese Ambassador to Mauritania, Hassena Ould Ely- Director-General of Office of Friendship Port in Mauritania, etc.

The delegation visited the existing Berths 1, 2 and 3, as well as Berths 4 and 5 completed and put into use in 2014 successively. Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong recognized the remarkable achievements and outstanding contributions made by CRBC in Mauritania, and praised that CRBC sets a good example for Chinese enterprises and consolidates the friendship between China and Mauritania.

The relevant principal of Mauritania Office introduced Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong the 50,000t Oil Berth Project of the Friendship Port under progress. After completion, the Project will significantly reduce the product oil transfer fees in Mauritania, satisfy the increase in oil consumption in the capital area, ensure the oil-use safety, and guarantee the needs for economic development of Mauritania.

The Friendship Port in Mauritania is a large infrastructure project undertaken by CRBC in the 1970s and was the second largest China-aided project in Africa at that time. CRBC completed the extension of Berths 4 and 5 in June 2014, and the Friendship Port runs well so far.
