President Lu Shan Attends the Signing Ceremony of Commercial Contract for Construction of the Multi Lane Road Tunnel Project Under the River Karnaphuli in Bangladesh

On the afternoon of June 30, witnessed by Yang Chuantang - Minister of Transport of China and OBAIDUL QUADER - Minister of Transport of Bangladesh, CCCC Chairman Liu Qitao and KHANDKER ANWARUL ISLAM - Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Transport and Director of the Bridge Bureau of Bangladesh successfully signed the commercial contract for Construction of the Multi Lane Road Tunnel Project Under the River Karnaphuli in Bangladesh at the VIP Lounge of the Ministry of Communications. CRBC President Lu Shan attended the ceremony.

The 9092m-long Tunnel Project in Bangladesh, located in Chittagong, connects the eastern bank and western bank of Karnaphuli River. Since this Tunnel is the first underwater tunnel of Bangladesh and an important link of Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor, the construction of Karnaphuli River Bottom Tunnel will greatly improve the traffic condition of Chittagong, drive the economic development of Bangladesh, perfect the Asian Highway Network and promote the interconnectivity between Bangladesh and the surrounding countries. Besides, this project is the first overseas river bottom tunnel project CRBC constructed and has an important significance to expand the business field of CRBC and improve the market layout in South Asia.

Fazlul Karim - Bangladeshi ambassador to China, relevant leaders of the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, officials of the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bridge Bureau of Bangladesh, Wang Jingchun - Temporary Party Secretary of CCCC Overseas Business Department, and relevant responsible people of CRBC Corporate Administration Office, Marketing Department and Bangladesh Office were also present.
