Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway Operation Company Achieves 300 Days of Safe Operation

Since Mombasa-Nairobi SGR was opened for traffic on May 31, 2017, all members of the operation team work conscientiously and earnestly carry forward the “invincible army” spirits with three “hundred-day safe programs” as a carrier under the leadership of CCCC and CRBC. As of March 27, 2018, Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway Operation Company successfully achieved 300 days of safe operation.

Li Quanhuai, CRBC Vice President and Chairman of Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway Operation Company, conveyed the concerns and encourage to the operation team on behalf of CRBC on the “300 Days of Safe Operation” Video and Telephone Conference held on March 28. He noted that the operation team gives proactive response to the Belt & Road Initiative proposed by China, implements the overall deployment of CRBC for overseas railways, and successfully copes with the operation, two elections and safe operation adhering to the operation goal of “guaranteeing safety, improving efficiency and building brand” in strict accordance with the guidance of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. So far, the transportation organization of Mombasa-Nairobi SGR is in good order, all the facilities and equipment are in good conditions, and featured services are offered to the passengers. Now, Mombasa-Nairobi SGR has received a total of 1.06 million person-times and 360,000t freights. Li Quanhuai encouraged all the employees to stay true to the missions, proactively cooperate with Kenya owner to complete all transportation indicators, promote the sustained development of Mombasa-Nairobi SGR, and accelerate the transformation from full-industry chain to full-value chain with guaranteeing safety as the primary task.

Currently, the operation team proactively implements the guidance proposed by CRBC Chairman Lu Shan at the Working Meeting for Organizations of CRBC in Kenya on 3.15, continues to forge ahead, and strives to achieve the node targets of opening 4 pairs, 5 pairs, 7 pairs and 14 pairs of freight trains in April, May, June and by December respectively.
