Senegal Branch Signs the Frist BRT Contract in South Africa

On September 16, CRBC Senegal Branch officially received the construction contract for “Projet Pilote de Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) à Dakar” approved and issued by the Public Procurement Contracts Administration of Senegal, marking another remarkable achievement in transportation infrastructure construction made by CRBC in Senegal.

Located in Dakar, Capital of Senegal, the BRT Project starts from Place Cabral Square in Dakar and ends in Guédiawaye. It is the first pilot project launched by Dakar Urban Transport Executive Committee to fully implement the urban transport strategy, as well as the first BRT project of French-speaking countries in West Africa.

After completion, the Project will cut the traffic time on the busiest section of Dakar in almost half, increase the daily capacity to up to 300,000 passengers, and make the urban transport even more comfortable, safer and more standardized. As a comprehensive project, it will further accelerate the pace of urbanization along the line, improve the livelihood, and positively promote the urban environment protection and sustainable development.
