At the conference, Esther Kommet fully affirmed that the Kenya Standard Gauge Railway Project has brought great changes to the lives of the Kenyans, and highly praised the social and public welfare undertakings of CCCC and CRBC for Kenya, which had injected new vitality into the communities along the line.

In his speech, Wu Peng expressed that CCCC and CRBC are not only the builders of the SGR, but also the important participants of Kenya’s regional economic development, and the sharers of the responsibilities of the government and the economic and social development. He hoped that the SGR would extend not only to the Malabar border but also to the entire African continent in the future.

Lushan noted in his speech that, from construction to operation, CCCC and CRBC have always adhered to the concept of sustainable development and win-win prosperity, and have been committed to becoming the responsibility-sharers of the government and economic and social development, the active participants in regional economic development, and the providers of high-quality public services purchased by the government. CCCC and CRBC have always concerned about the urgent needs of Kenya, and the construction of the project is truly conducive to promoting local economic and social development and driving the upgrading of relevant local industries. During the construction period, more than 72,000 jobs were created and Kenya's GDP grew by more than 1.5%. Through multi-level and multi-system all-round training, technology transfer was realized, and tens of thousands of skilled workers and technical personnel were trained. Through cooperation in running schools, more than 2,000 local students were trained with professional knowledge to become the backbone of railway operation and maintenance in the future. Through cooperation with more than 1,000 Kenyan suppliers, local industries welcomed prosperous development. During construction and operation, CCCC and CRBC have shouldered social responsibilities and undertaken various social works including improving water conservancy facilities, providing medical services, conducting school construction, and participating in rescue and disaster relief, completing more than 200 public welfare projects in total.
