Bridge Pile Foundation of Dakar BRT Project Started

Date: 10/18/2020

On October 12, as the first bridge pile foundation of the Libert VI Bridge was officially drilled, the construction of the concrete structure of the Dakar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project in Senegal officially started.

The BRT Project officially entered the actual construction phase on site in March 2020. After nearly 7 months of hard work, the project department has overcome various difficulties such as the shortage of personnel and equipment caused by the epidemic, the slow land acquisition and demolition, the unidentified underground pipeline network exploration and migration, and the modification of engineering design, and welcomed the start of the Project’s first bridge pile foundation, laying a good foundation for the subsequent implementation of the Project.

The Dakar BRT Project in Senegal starts at Place Cabral Square in Dakar and ends at Guédiawaye City Hall; it has a total length of 18.3 kilometers. There are 23 closed bus stations on the whole line, three of which are hub interchange stations. The completion of the Project will greatly ease the traffic pressure in Dakar, strengthen the connection of the road network around the capital, promote the development of tourism and transportation along the route, and promote the level of local employment. It is of great significance to the promotion of the new Senegal revitalization plan.
