Tseung Kwan O Bay Bridge Project Wins Multiple Safety Awards

Recently, Hong Kong Development Bureau and Construction Industry Council jointly organized the "Construction Safety Week 2020". With its outstanding performance in safety management, Hong Kong Tseung Kwan O Cross-Bay Bridge Project won five awards, including “Site Safety Gathering 2019 Best Presentation Award”, “Innovative Safety Initiative Award 2020 Category 2: Safety Management System” ,  “Training & Promotion、Innovative Safety Initiative Award 2020 Category 3: Safety Operational Device” , “Outstanding Award For Sports Excellence and Activeness” ,  “Lifting Safety Promotion Campaign Lifting Safety Management System”.

As an annual event in Hong Kong's construction industry, the "Construction Safety Week" has been successfully held for 8 years. It has played a positive role in advancing the safety standards of the construction industry and enhancing the safety awareness of jobholders.

In the "Innovative Engineering Safety Award" section, the Project’s "Smart Maritime Engineering Management System" adopted the latest wireless communication and sensing technology based on the original safety management system and measures, and took the site in implementing and integrating safety accident prevention and construction safety information sharing, achieved good results, and won the Merit Award in "safety management system, safety training and publicity" competition unit. The company’s "prefabricated circular steel cofferdam construction platform", with the rapid installation of double-layer steel cofferdam design and internal working platform, greatly reduced the safety risk of personnel during the operation, and won the Merit Award in in the "Safe Construction Facility" competition unit.

The Project adopted the prefabricated bridge piers and beam assembly construction plan, with many heavy lifting works - the prefabricated beam in particular, weigh more than 3,000 tons. The engineer team actively implemented the concept of "design for safety", incorporated safety elements into the method statement of the lifting construction and the temporary structure design. Through strengthened training and on-site guidance, every worker became the executor of safety management system, with safe construction methods and concepts integrated into daily work. The excellent safety management has been affirmed by the owner and the construction industry, and finally won the "Best Performance Award for Construction Site Safety Promotion" and the "Lifting Safety Management System Award".
