Li Keqiang: The Peljesac Bridge Project Sets A Model for China-Croatia and China-EU Cooperation
Date: 05/18/2022On May 13, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council exchanged congratulatory messages with Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic. In the congratulatory message, Li Keqiang mentioned that the Peljesac Bridge and other mutually beneficial and win-win projects have set a model for China-Croatia and China-EU cooperation.
The Peljesac Bridge Project is the first large-scale infrastructure project undertaken by a Chinese company funded by EU funds, which is of great significance to deepening the tripartite cooperation between China, Croatia, and Europe. Since the start of project construction in 2018, media from all over the world, including China, Croatia, and the European Union, have always paid close attention to the construction of the Bridge. The prime ministers of China and Croatia have visited the construction site in persons, and jointly launched the project to drive the steel pipe piles. The Croatian prime minister and members of the government cabinet have visited the site more than ten times. The Bridge has become a landmark building of great concern to the Croatian and EU governments.
The Peljesac Bridge Project in Croatia has a total length of 3.94 kilometers, of which the bridge is 2440 meters long. The main bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with six-tower central single-cable-plane steel-concrete composite beam and low-tower. The completion of the bridge will realize the long-cherished wish of the Croatian people to link the north and south of the country, and effectively boost local economic development and personnel exchange.
