Liantang Port Project 6 Holds Changshan Tunnel Breakthrough Ceremony
On July 6, Land Leveling and Foundation Construction Project – Section 6 Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point of (“Liantang Port Project”) held the tunnel breakthrough ceremony. Among the attendees were Lin Shixiong- Director-general Civil Engineering and Development Department, North District councilor So Sai-chi, CRBC President Assistant and General Manager of Hong Kong Branch Kan Jun, John Porter- Vice Chairman of the partner Continental Engineering Group, etc.

In their speeches, Director-general Lin Shixiong and councilor So Sai-chi spoke highly of the joint venture on completing the project over 1 month in advanced in spite of extremely short duration, maintenance of “zero accident”, and good relations with the villages and villagers in surrounding areas.
With a total length of 681m, Changshan Tunnel is a twin-bore ultra-large section tunnel with two tunnels connected by 7 cross passages. Each tunnel is 13m wide and 9.3m high. The tunnel is located in mountain with rich water, complicated terrain and crushed surrounding rock, and extremely high difficulty of construction. The tunnel raised high requirements for safety and environmental protection as it is adjacent to the residential area.
