A Successful Trial Flight on the New Runway of Kamembe International Airport in Rwanda

At 14:04 on June 15, a Q400 Airliner of Rwanda Air smoothly landed on the new runway of KAMEMBE International Airport in Rwanda. This is the first time that KAMEMBE Airport has been open to air traffic after it stopped operating in October, 2014. This successful trial flight means that Resurfacing of Aircraft Movement Area at Kamembe International Airport in Rwanda in which CRBC participated was successfully completed.

Resurfacing of Aircraft Movement Area at Kamembe International Airport is the first airport project CRBC undertook in Rwanda. The client is Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority and the funds are from the national budget of Rwanda Government. The construction started on January 9, 2015 and lasted for six months. The main construction work of the project is the resurfacing of the aircraft movement area (runway and parking apron). The runway is 1.5km long and 45m wide and the parking apron is about 10,000m².
