Montenegro South-North Expressway Moracica Bridge Commences

The commencement ceremony of Montenegro South-North Expressway Project Smokovac-Matesevo Section Moracica Bridge constructed by CRBC was held in Podgorica, capital of Montenegro on May 25, which marked that this project entered the important main part construction stage. The Xinhua News Agency paid attention to and covered it.

At the commencement ceremony, Ivan Brajovic–Minister of Transportations and Maritime Affairs and his Excellency Zhang Xiang, the Charge d'Affaires ad interim of ChineseEmbassy in Montenegro jointly pressed the start button of concrete pouring.

Minister Brajovic expressed his congratulations on the smooth construction of the main part of the project, spoke highly of the construction ability of the Chinese side, and said he was confident in CRBC’s completing the project as scheduled. In his speech, his Excellency Zhang Xiang said China and Montenegro carried out positive and friendly cooperation in the project construction process, which laid a foundation for connecting the cooperation bridge between two countries.

Montenegro South-North Expressway is the first expressway of Montenegro; its trunk road is 180km in total, and it plans to be constructed in five sections. According to the planning of the government of Montenegro, Smokovac- Matesevo Section will be constructed first. After its completion, this road will be merged into the international highway transport network, connecting several countries in Central Europe, and it is of great significance to Montenegro. Prime Minister Djukanovic of Montenegro considered this road construction project as a “historical project”. At the same time, as an important project under Central and Eastern European Countries cooperation, the construction of this Expressway was also greatly supported by leaders and government departments of both China and Montenegro.
